O poveste de crimă, psihologică, pe alocuri filosofică - frământată într-un roman întunecat, misterios, captivant. Intriga urmează un complot simplu, consecințele unei crime, dar povestea reală devine întortocheată. Datorită caracterului imoral, respingător şi înfiorător al personajelor l-aş cataloga un roman de dezvoltare personală(sau mai degrabă o poveste a decăderii umane).

O capodopera contemporana si o satira excelenta a elitismului din mediul academic. Desi atat lungimea, cat si structura pot parea descurajante, intrucat are peste 600 de pagini si aflam inca din prolog care este traditionalul punct culminant al actiunii, acest roman merita citit si recitit.
