Everything seems to be going wrong for Amethyst and her friends. Sasha is Half-Blessed, Zora and Muse are in the Crow Territory and Amethyst is tasked with finding and performing a ritual with his parents to restore the balance of magic in their world. In this strange place, these friends are learning about their family lines and the social pressures they have been tasked with abiding.
