One happy result of the success of publishing "Sea Crossings" in 2011 is that Commander Huib van Hoeven has been persuaded to reveal this fascinating inside story of his childhood in the Netherlands. In "Sea Callings" he presents not only his memories but also reflections on the differences in culture and the often hard times before World War II, as well as additional interesting information on places and history. The author's style and humour, drawing the reader into each event, make this little book compelling reading.
