A blizzard threatens outside the windows of Winifred's log cabin in the woods, but Fred takes comfort in the sounds of the crackling fireplace and the not-so-gentle snoring of her corgi, Watson. Despite troubles as plentiful as the snowflakes obliterating the stary skies, excitement grows as she contemplates her love of mysteries and new possibilities for her life in the Colorado mountain town of Estes Park.

The crunch of tires in the snow interrupts Fred's ponderings-and Watson's visions of treats and belly rubs-propelling them into a deadly game. Being underdressed for a socialite's dinner party is the least of Fred's fears... as murder is on the menu.
The clues might solve more than one mystery, as Fred plays a dangerous game of cat and mouse... and Watson bids farewell to a friend.
