Journal Of A Disappointed Man (Edition1)

De (autor): W.N.P. Barbellion

Barbellion, W. N. P.: - Wilhelm Nero Pilate Barbellion, the pen name of Bruce Frederick Cummings, was an English diarist born on 7 September 1889 in Barnstaple, United Kingdom. He is best known for his deeply personal and poignant work, The Journal of a Disappointed Man, which has been lauded by critics such as Ronald Blythe as one of the most moving diaries ever created. Barbellion's life was marked by his battle with multiple sclerosis, a condition that profoundly influenced both his writing and his worldview. He was a passionate naturalist, and his early entries reflect a fascination with biology and the natural world. In 1915, Barbellion married Eleanor Abbey, and they had a daughter, Penelope. However, his health continued to deteriorate, and he died at the young age of 30 on 22 October 1919 in Gerrards Cross, United Kingdom. His legacy, though brief, endures through his reflective and introspective journal, which captures his emotional and existential struggles in the face of illness.
