Sheriff's detective Shane Lindstrom and deputy Katarina Brown study the corpse at the water's edge. Kat hasn't had breakfast yet and is glad now. She is looking at the remains of an obviously vital woman who had been going about her life a few hours earlier, looking forward to the 50th reunion of her high school class.
