The types of dishes served in the Czech Republic are not known for being particularly healthy, but they are delicious. You won't want to eat high-calorie foods all the time, but it's worth taking the time once in a while to make authentic Czech dishes, with tastes that will amaze your family and friends.

Meat is commonly served in the Czech Republic, in addition to dumplings, sauces, and condiments. It is similar in some ways to old, traditional German cuisine. Even recipes that are considered Czech originals like spaetzle or goulash originated actually in other nearby countries.

Czech meals usually begin with a soup of some sort, followed by the main course with a meat (or seafood) dish and a side dish. The most often used meats include beef, turkey, duck, pork, and chicken. There are meatless main courses too, which utilize fruit-filled dumplings, potato pancakes and cabbage, fried cauliflower and fried cheese.
