During the 12th century, the Incas appeared in the Andes Mountains of modern-day Peru. They were polytheists who worshiped the sun, moon, earth and stars, as well as the creator god Inti. Incas were a highly creative society. They built incredible shrines and fortresses, including the Sacsahuaman, which was a colossal fortress with a circumference of 1,200 feet. They also used rope bridges to get from one place to another. These rope bridges were made from ichu grass and were regularly repaired by local villagers.
