Mylod: - ABOUT THE STORY: The Avocado Tree (written in English and Spanish) is a story that begins when Diane's father planted an Avocado Tree in the front yard of their home. She was 10 years old then and lived in Glendale, Arizona. Diane grew up with a flourishing Avocado Tree in her front yard and she had no idea that this tree would fruit a kind of hope that would give her the strength to live a prosperous life and see the world as a magical place. This extraordinary tree had received much attention throughout it's lifespan and has produced many delicious avocados to enjoy. This avocado tree grieved the loss of Diane's father passing along with her and her family and those who knew him. Through this loss Diane found a way to continue to spread her father's loving energy. This is a book about re-discovering meaning and a life's purpose through grief and loss. ABOUT THE ART: The illustrations in The Avocado Tree are based on original photographic documentations by Diane and other images that the artist drew from Diane's memories connected to her and her father's relationship to the tree. The illustrations were handpainted in watercolors and drawing materials by visual artist, Moriah Mylod-Daggett. Stylistically Moriah painted the images in expressionism to convey the vibrancy of emotions, thoughts and sensations behind the words that surround this heartfelt story of life and legacy.
