Detective literature in Urdu has been very popular since the beginning. Ibn-e-Safi's novels, full of detective stories, humour, adventure and romance, have created a sensation in the Urdu world. If classical literature of Urdu is studied in detail, the highlights of detective literature will be visible to us from afar. Elements of espionage are abundantly found in Urdu stories and tales. The seven volumes of "Tilism-e-Hoshruba" if turned into novels, will repeat the early story of detective literature in Urdu. Famous Urdu magazine "Shama" has started a spy monthly "Mujrim" based on the main character of Colonel Zahid, also gained great popularity among the Urdu fans of entertainment literature.
