Legacy of Faith: Generational Stories We Will Tell

Helen Anderson Johnson and Julia Stanley-Mack, sisters and daughters of a Church of God minister, grew up in a home where faith in God was talked about on a daily basis. They heard their parents tell of answered prayers; other times, they heard stories about their great grandfather and grandparents' salvation, healings, miracles, trials, provisions, and victories. They participated in family devotions and Biblical games created to encourage learning about the heroes of the Bible as in Hebrews 11. They had intense rivalry locating scriptures their father would call out for them to read aloud. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word"(Romans 10:17). With the passing of their parents and grandparents, Helen and Julia became concerned that their children and grandchildren would not hear the wonderful generational stories and God's miraculous acts found in the WORD. The blessings that shaped them into the women they are today, would not be recounted if they were not written down. HELEN ANDERSON JOHNSON Helen began her teaching career on Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas, serving as a missionary. After graduating from Lee College (1961) and Georgia Southern University (1964), her ministry began in public education, teaching English and literacy classes. Eleven of those years were served in Christian schools in both administration and classrooms. She has served in adjunct/facilitator positions for the Schools of Education for the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and Chattanooga. Helen served as president of Hamilton County Reading Association, state president of Tennessee Reading Association, and "Distinguished Classroom Teacher" of Hamilton County. She was a Stokley fellow at the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, where she received a master's degree in administration and supervision. DR. JULIA NORRIS STANLEY-MACK Julia (Julie) Beatrice Norris Stanley-Mack has pastored Life Spring Worship Center in Bloomingdale, Georgia, for thirty-seven years. She is a certified counselor with the American Association of Christian Counselors. For the past twenty-three years, she has served as the administrator of LSCA, a state-accredited academy. She is the founder and president of the Master's College of Georgia (training for men and women in biblical studies, equipping them for ministry). She is the director of a local FM gospel radio, WSGF.
